Manifesto {Of sorts}

What's the thinking behind Feelin' Supersonic. Well the intention is not to be just another blog about 'indie music' in general, not a catch all type of thing with no focus. What i plan to focus on is seemingly lost art of the big british indie guitar band that has existed since the days of punk {and arguably before} but we are now being told is extinct. I'm thinking of The Jam, The Smiths, Echo and the Bunnymen, Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, The Verve etc. Bands that meant a lot to people , you anticipated their next release, you might follow them around the country, bands you fervently cared about.

Currently in this day of apparent short attention spans and tiktok being the place 'record companies' scout talent , we are certainly seeing less and less bands break into the mainstream. What 'indie' acts we are seeing have any success sound like they have been produced in a science lab by a pop orientated producer . Where are the bands where every member was an important piece of the puzzle ? Where are your Reni's, Simon Jones {the Verve}, your Nick Mccabe's or John Squire's ? well i believe they are out there and intend to showcase some of the artists i believe could be those new bands that people can believe in and prove that not everyone's ears have softened to a bland pop sheen and musicianship and integrity are still valued.

I'll be using this part of the site to talk about things in the music industry, good and bad that i see happening. Hope you will come along for the journey.
